BizTalk Azure Services – My learnings 1

This is a record for me to remember what i have done.

Last October I started to teach myself about WABS. At this stage WABS will still in preview mode and I completed most of the samples. tutorials and examples i could find. Work and family commitments kicked in and I had to drop what I was doing for a awhile.

Finally I have got a bit of free time again and i tried to pick up where i had left off. A lot has happened to WABS since October, it is now in general availability and has a lot more features.

The first thing I had to do was upgrade my kit to the latest WABS stuff. I followed this article but keep on getting a proxy authenticating error. I thought this  was probably because I had forgot all my usernames and password and decided to scorch everything back to the beginning.  I deleted all my azure artifacts from my premium subscription, uninstalled the runtime from my development machine and started all over again provisioning WABS. This time I chose an ultimate subscription because with GA using a development option I have been finding that if I use a premium subscription it is used up about 5 days before the end of the month. I followed the nice wizard and after 17 minutes I had a BizTalk service in Azure.

I downloaded the automatically created private SSL key from new BizTalk Services dashboard for use on my developer workstation later on. Now I am all set to wire up all the old tutorials again. I can hardly wait to see what has changed.
